Trauma/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Individual Therapy

Individualized therapy serves as a safe, compassionate space for processing the deep impact of trauma, PTSD, and past wounds. This gentle, trauma-informed approach is essential for slowing down the exhausting cycle of “survival mode,” helping you understand how past events are still held in your body (often felt as constant tension or an inability to relax), and identifying the triggers that shake your sense of safety in the present. It is designed to support you if you recognize these experiences in your life:

  • Feeling constantly on guard: Being “always on alert,” jumpy, or looking over your shoulder, often feeling that the world is unsafe or that you must prepare for the worst.
  • Needing to disconnect to cope: Finding yourself zoning out, feeling numb, or withdrawing from others when things get too heavy; you might feel detached from reality or notice gaps in your memory.
  • Memories that feel present: Being unsettled by intrusive thoughts, nightmares, or vivid flashbacks that make it feel like past events are happening all over again.
  • Physical signs of distress: Experiencing a racing heart, sweating, or chronic exhaustion because your nervous system is working overtime to keep you safe.
  • Carrying a heavy internal weight: struggling with deep feelings of guilt, shame, or self-blame, or feeling that you are “broken” or unable to trust others.

Working directly with a dedicated therapist, you’ll engage in structured, evidence-based healing – utilizing methods like Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Schema Therapy – to gently move through painful memories without being overwhelmed by them. The ultimate goal is to process the past so you can reclaim your present, helping you soothe your nervous system (calming physical panic and improving sleep) and release the heavy burden of shame. This allows you to build a secure, grounded foundation for a life lived on your own terms.
